Warehouses and Distribution Centers That Hire Felons

Many warehouses are willing to give you the chance to start afresh.

Even though getting a job as an ex-convict can be difficult, there is some hope because many warehouses and distribution centers in the US are historically willing to give people a second chance.

Companies that have signed the Ban the Box pledge (e.g. Target) won’t ask you if you have a criminal record. These are the best places to look for work as an ex-convict.

Some companies do background checks that go back many years or decades. This is especially so in states where there are no laws regulating criminal record considerations in employment such as Alaska, Florida, Arkansas and Alabama.

If you have a criminal record and are looking to find employment in these states, it can be a bit challenging to get a job with some companies located there.

Yet other companies will consider hiring felons on a case by case basis. They look at factors like the severity of the charge and how long ago it took place.

After doing extensive research, we have compiled a list of some of the best warehouses that hire felons in the United States. Take a look at what’s available near you.

How Far Back Employers Check For Felonies

How far back companies go when doing a background check will depend on the type of job (e.g. finance sector jobs normally exclude people with criminal records) and location (e.g. state and jurisdiction).

Some states do not have a predetermined number of years in which an employer can look back. This means that potential employers they can check for criminal history as far back as they please. In other states (e.g. Wisconsin), the crime must be substantially related to the job for it to count.

Some states have a seven year rule that prohibits reporting convictions that go back more than seven years. Companies in these states will only do background checks that go back seven years.

States That Follow the Seven-Year Rule

The following states have a seven year limit for criminal background checks. If you are applying for a job at a warehouse located in any of these states, criminal records that are more than seven years old won’t show up or be considered in background checks.

  • Washington
  • New York
  • Nevada

  • Massachusetts
  • Maryland
